South West Nova Tuna Association

South West Nova Tuna AssociationThe South West Nova Tuna Association was formed in 1988 to represent the common interest of the thirty-two bluefin tuna license holders in southwest Nova Scotia. These individuals are typically multi-species fishermen that take part in the harvest of bluefin tuna during their summer migration into Canadian waters, along the coast of Nova Scotia.

The Association takes a strong role in the management, science, and conservation of the bluefin tuna fishery regionally (Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Maritimes Region), domestically (Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Canada), and internationally (Internationally Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna, I.C.C.A.T.).
