The Association provides input to the domestic management of bluefin tuna fisheries through several advisory processes and is a participating member of the Scotia Fundy Large Pelagics Advisory Committee and the Atlantic Large Pelagics Advisory Committee, working with other members of the Canadian large pelagics fisheries, DFO resource management and DFO science, to provide advice to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans on various issues related to the conservation and management of the fishery. The South West Nova Tuna Association has participated in the international management of Western Atlantic bluefin tuna, through their participation as part of the Canadian delegation to ICCAT and has been attending annual meetings since the inception of the Association.
